In alignment with Novartis company strategy to ‘Embrace Operational Excellence’ and the Novartis Business Services – Real Estate & Facility Services strategy, the purpose of this role is to facilitate the implementation of the Global HSE Strategy by providing technical expertise and guidance to regional and site management in all Novartis organizations in the EMEA/Asia/Americas region.

In alignment with Novartis company strategy to ‘Embrace Operational Excellence’ and the Novartis Business Services – Real Estate & Facility Services strategy, the purpose of this role is to facilitate the implementation of the Global HSE Strategy by providing technical expertise and guidance to regional and site management in all Novartis organizations in the EMEA/Asia/Americas region.
Your key responsibilities:
- Oversees HSE support, programs and initiatives in EMEA/Asia/Americas region as well as providing global coordination on various HSE topics and programs/Biosafety/Radiation.Safety/Environment/Technical Safety/PiE & Waste Water/Process Safety management. Strategic lead in the site. To develop open and trustworthy relationship to the authorities, the public and the business. Act as responsible of HSE for local site and country.
- To establish and maintain Health Safety and Environment and Business Continuity Management
- Coordinate the implementation and execution of procedures, standards and policies of Health, Safety and Environment, to prevent accidents, disease prevention and protect environmental.
- Leads the Health, Safety and Environment function in a small or medium sized site with moderate risk site, with a small team, ensuring site compliance and external legal requirements
- Fosters good relations with global Health Safety and Environment and local key stakeholders. A HSE specialism within a Division, based on deep knowledge of their specialism, advises HSE colleagues at Divisional and Site levels. Prepares summaries for ECN, Annual report, internet and intranet, external Corporate and responsibility rating agencies, internal and external auditors.
- Collects and verifies the site HSE data provided to the global Health Safety and Environment team. Ensures timely reporting and escalation of incidents at site level. Supports root cause investigations and lessons learned sharing of incidents. Supports timely and right quality CAPA implementation
- Strong management of the risk portfolio. Develop Health, Safety and Environment capabilities in the line managers and coach them to act as point of contact for HSE issues. Member of the Site Leadership team acting as a role model in HSE and ensuring alignment between the global HSE policies and the local needs.
- Identify, develop and retain talent, providing strong succession plans and development opportunities Established professional working independently. May have responsibility for results of small team within one location. Responsibility of execution of professional tasks aimed at ensuring occupational safety & health, and environment protection at the site, in accordance with the law, internal regulations, good practices and business objectives.
- Reporting of technical complaints / adverse events / special case scenarios related to Novartis products within 24 hours of receipt. Distribution of marketing samples (where applicable)

- Preferable minimum of 3 years experience in HSE
- Knowledge and experience in HSE (legislation, ergonomics, categorization of work, occupational accidents, working conditions and environment, risk assessment, etc.)
- English at advance level
- Preferable Czech relevant HSE qualification in Health & Safety and Fire protection:
- "technik PO, OZO PO" - acc. to act 133/1985 Coll.
